Job Overview:

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading a team of data scientists in the development and implementation of advanced data science solutions across Computer Vision, Signal Processing (e.g. sensor data, radar, SAR, maritime radar) and LLM.. You will play a critical role in defining the data science strategy, driving innovative projects and ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact data initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, machine learning and leadership, with a proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions that generate business value.

 

What will be your responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor and inspire a team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. For an overview of what our Data Scientists do on a day-to-day basis, please refer to <hyperlinks to all 3 Data Scientist Job Descriptions>.
  • Strategy Development: Define and drive the data science strategy, aligning it with business goals and ensuring the successful execution of data initiatives.
  • Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data projects, from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and high quality of work.
  • Model Development: Design, develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
  • Data Analysis: Perform in-depth data analysis to extract insights, identify trends and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including product managers, engineers and business leaders, to understand their needs and deliver impactful data solutions.
  • Innovation: Stay current with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning and drive the adoption of new techniques and technologies within the team.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of data models and algorithms using appropriate metrics and techniques and iteratively improve their accuracy and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of models, algorithms and processes for future reference and reproducibility.

 

Profile and requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in data science or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong programming skills in Python, as well as R or a similar language.
    • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow,, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn, TensorRT.
    • Experience with FiftyOne and CVAT, as well as relevant models such as Yolo.
    • Experience with experimentation platforms such as Jupyter Notebooks.
    • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, pandas, Matplotlib, or Tableau.
    • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
    • Experience in getting Machine Learning products to production.
    • Solid knowledge of DevOps best practices and tools: GIT, CI/CD, telemetry and monitoring, etc.
  • Domain Expertise: Experience in Computer Vision, Signal Processing and LLM projects.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the accuracy and quality of work.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements.
